Robert Downey Jr Is Sherlock Holmes In Guy Ritchie’s Interpretation

The first trailer is out for Guy Ritchie’s upcoming “Sherlock Holmes” film and what can we say from that trailer so far about the movie…dumb swashbuckling fun!

Despite their claims of faithfulness, I doubt anyone aside from the most gullible will confuse Downey’s swashbuckling rapscallion with Arthur Conan Doyle’s stoic, mildly sociopathic crime solver so definitively portrayed by Jeremy Brett in the 80’s Granada-produced television series.

What we have looks more like Downey’s Tony Stark character with an accent and in a period piece. It’s a big “Pirates”-esque Summer action movie (albeit hitting at Christmas) full of explosions, quips, a good bit of bawdy humor, Jude Law as the bumbling sidekick Mr. Watson, evil conspiracies and Rachel McAdams in a corset.
