Leaf Carving

WOOW, talk about cool, talk about precision. Leaf carving is a unique way to appreciate what nature “leaves” behind, offering artists a way to slowly scrape off the leaf’s outer layers, revealing its near transparent surface.

Apparently, the leaf choice is crucial. Leaf carving artists prefer using the leaves of the Chinar tree, which is native to India, Pakistan, and China. Resembling maple leaves, the distribution of veins in the Chinar leaves are the best suited for this kind of art and the leaves are considered ‘lucky’ in Chinese tradition.
